Introduction
I am deeply influenced by the intersection of identity politics and the universal philosophy of Tibetan Buddhism after residing in the Himalayas for several years. Upon discovering the physics of light in 3D Animation (Maya, AfterEffects) and puppetry, I am continuing my cantastoria exploration further integrating the corporeal allusions deeply into the landscape of the psyche. I believe in the potential of art and performance to create dialogues that evoke our rooted mythologies, faith and the familiar. My work intertwines the organic with the synthetic, referring to both western biological and traditional Asian medical interpretations. Exploiting the container of the plastic arts or of the human performer in juxtaposition with the ephemeral projections of an animation. I am fascinated by failed metamorphosis and the transparent pharmacon that motivates transformation. In examining the animal, self-determined constructs of identity, the skin becomes porous and transitory, decomposing while all phenomena continue around apace.
